Before You Begin
Unroll and relax. Your decals arrive rolled in a shipping box. We recommend laying them flat with the backing attached for a little while before installation, allowing them to relax and reach room temperature.
Prepare your surface. Clean it and let it dry completely. Fresh paint must fully cure—often two to four weeks. Follow the paint manufacturer’s curing time.
Try your sample. Every order includes a sample decal so you can practice and check adhesion on your intended surface.
Choose Your Application Method
Without transfer tape: Peel from the backing, position and smooth from the center toward the edges. Apply dry, or try the optional wet method for easier positioning of larger designs.
Full transfer tape: Follow the illustrated instructions in your package. Beginners should apply the decal dry, as supplied.
Partial transfer tape: Follow the same illustrated instructions for taped areas. Wet application can help in areas without transfer tape.
Transfer tape holds separate pieces together. Once the decal adheres, slowly peel the tape back against itself at a low angle.
Optional Wet Method
Wet application gives you more time to adjust placement, especially with larger designs and areas without transfer tape.
- Lightly mist a suitable smooth surface with a mild soap-and-water solution. For a 22 × 22-inch decal, use approximately three to four light sprays. Do not soak.
- Position the decal and gently smooth from the center to the edges with a squeegee or credit card to push out excess liquid and bubbles.
- Allow the decal to dry completely. The light moisture evaporates so the adhesive can bond.
Need a Little Help?
Decal lifting with the transfer tape? Stop peeling. Lay the tape back down and press firmly on top of it until the decal adheres. Slowly try again. If you used wet application, allow more drying time.
Cold room or stubborn decal? We recommend a room temperature around 70°F (21°C). If the decal will not release from its backing or lifts from the surface, gently warm it with a blow dryer on low. Press firmly, then try again. Keep the dryer moving; the decal should feel slightly warm, never hot.
Removing Your Decals
Ready for a new look? Gently warm the decal with a blow dryer on low to help soften the adhesive. Keep the dryer moving; the decal and surface should feel slightly warm, never hot.
Lift an edge, then slowly peel the decal back against itself at a very low angle, keeping it close to the surface. Avoid pulling straight outward, which can put more stress on the paint or finish.
If you feel resistance, stop, gently warm the area again and continue slowly. Take extra care on painted or delicate surfaces.
